Why I Keep Going: The Heart of Maggie Villamaria Jewelry

Running a small business is no easy feat. It’s often portrayed as a glamorous journey, filled with passion, creativity, and ultimate freedom. But behind the scenes, there are days—months even—when I’ve felt completely stuck, questioning everything. After four years of pouring my heart into Maggie Villamaria Jewelry, I thought I’d have it all figured out by now. Instead, the past six months have been some of the hardest. The weight of running a small business—managing production, inventory, marketing—often leaves me wondering, "Should I just quit? Wouldn’t it be easier to close up shop?"

I’ve caught myself thinking about different paths. What if I just pivoted to creating digital products or focused on influencer work? The logistics would be simpler—no more office space, no sourcing materials, no physical labor. In theory, life would be easier. But then something happened that reminded me why I started this journey in the first place.

Last week, I received a DM that stopped me in my tracks. It was from a new client who had recently lost her mother. She shared how her Positano necklace was now a constant reminder of her mom’s bright spirit, a symbol of the joy and light she brought into every room she entered. She said, “Thank you for the Positano necklace. It’s a reminder of my mom and the cheerful attitude she brought into every room she walked in every day, every minute of her life.”

That message brought me to tears. It made me realize that this business is so much more than just selling jewelry—it’s about creating pieces that connect people, that hold memories, that uplift and inspire. It's a reminder that the simple path isn't always the best way through or the most fulfilling. It’s a reminder that what we do here matters. In the hardest moments, when it feels like everything is falling apart, it's your stories that keep me grounded.

Why This Community Matters

At Maggie Villamaria, we aren’t just selling products—we’re creating a community. Each necklace, each piece of jewelry, is a symbol of something greater. Whether it’s worn as a boost on those tough days when your confidence is low or to honor someone you’ve lost, our jewelry holds meaning that goes beyond aesthetics.

I think about all the DMs, the emails, the heartfelt messages I’ve received over the years. It’s the stories you share about how our pieces have touched your lives that make this work worthwhile. It’s in those moments of connection that I realize we’re building something far bigger than ourselves.

We’re not just a small jewelry business—we’re a community of women who find strength, joy, and remembrance in the things we wear. And every time I question why I keep going, your messages remind me that this is exactly where I need to be. Yes, it’s hard. Yes, it’s exhausting. And yes, it’s risky. But it’s also worth every single moment.

Fighting for What Matters

There are days when the challenges of running a small business make me feel like giving up. But every time I hear from one of you, I’m reminded of why I’m willing to fight for this. We’re not just making jewelry; we’re creating something sacred—pieces that resonate with your lives, your memories, your stories.

To all of you who have shared your stories, thank you. For supporting me and this dream, thank you. For being part of Maggie Villamaria Jewelry, thank you.

This journey may be tough, but together, we’re creating something truly beautiful. And that makes it all worth it.
